Solo/Duo/Trio/Make Believe?!

Hey gang! As most of you know, I play music with a lot of different groups. Don't get me wrong, I love rocking a coffee shop or winery solo, but I really dig the energy that I get from other people sharing the stage with me. So, in case you DIDN'T know, here are the other groups that I play with:

FarAway - this is a male/female acoustic duo group with Brian Franke. Brian plays all over the area, almost every single night, and music is his life. He's a very talented musician, a high quality guy, and we make amazing music together. We're currently working on writing and recording our first EP with Mark Williams at Suckerpunch Studios, and we're also going on tour this summer.

3MTs - this is a trio comprised of music teachers from Fairfax County. We play each other's original songs as well as take cover songs and mold them into our own unique versions. We don't play many shows anymore, but we still practice and have a show coming up at Jammin Java this June. We sold out Jammin Java in January 2012, almost sold out in September 2012, and hope to sell out this June :) Jack plays solo shows in the area and Dave has a great non-profit kid's percussion group called the Vienna Jammers.

Heather Mae and The Make Believe - Heather Mae is an insanely talented performing singer/songwriter. She has this great band that backs her up called "The Make Believe" which consists of me (vocals, guitar, bass), Dan (guitar, bass), Sarah (vocals, cello) and RJ (drums). I love working and performing with all of these people....they are all incredbily inspiring and rehearsals with them make me feel accomplished and giddy. This group came in 2nd place at the Jammin Java Mid-Atlantic Battle of the Bands and Heather is currently working on her second album.

So, when you take a look at my
calendar you may see a random mix of solo, duo, trio, and even Make Believe shows. I'm a very busy girl, but I love every second of it and wouldn't have it any other way :)

I'm Baaaaa-aaaaack!

I'm ALIVE!

So, with the recent passing of SAHARA DAVENPORT, a contestant on the second season of "RuPaul’s Drag Race", I just thought that I would assure my fans that I am, in fact, still alive. While some of you may be disappointed, I'm actually extremely happy that I'm still alive. I can certainly see how there could be confusion though....see SAHARA'S photo below:

And then MY photo:

In all seriousness, my deepest sympyathy goes out to Sahara's friends and family. After seeing how many hits my website received after the announcement was made it's very clear that Sahara was loved and will most definitely be missed.

For those of you that are seeing my website for the first time, you could be a new fan! Check out the videos on my music page, and if you're in the DC area then come see me at a show!

Wine, Pizza and Music....OH MY!

Gah! Sorry for the hiatus! I'm here, I promise!

August was a CRAZY month filled with vacations and some AWESOME shows! One of my favorite shows was at Jammin Java on August 25th. A very good friend of mine, Ben Tufts, held a fundraiser concert for the Craig Tufts Memorial Fund which sends teens on educational nature trips. There were over 30 musicians that played throughout the day, and I was extremely thankful to be on the bill. I had a chance to meet and listen to a lot of musicians from the DMV area that I never get to hear, and had a blast hanging out all day with so many talented musicians. Here's a photo, taken by Jason Hornick, from the event!

If you didn't get a chance to make it to the event, I highly recommend that you try to come next year! It was amazing!
So, moving forward.....

First up, I've been asked by Justin Trawick, a musician in the area, to play The 9 Songwriter Series THIS SATURDAY at Quattro Goomba's Winery in Aldie, Virginia. This is an incredible event that has been happening up and down the east coast, and just recently made its way to California! I will be joining 8 other songwriters from the area to put on a concert of all original music. Each musician plays 3 songs, and we are all encouraged to collaborate with each other and join each other on stage. I'm lucky enough to have some of my friends playing in the same show! If you haven't checked out Alleghany St., Justin Trawick, Adam Bruno, or Allison Bruno then you had better get on it! They are all good friends of mine and I'm thrilled to be sharing a stage with them! So not only will there be amazing music, but Quattro Goomba's has delicious wine as well as pizza!  And if you haven't tried their famous wine slushie then you are REALLY missing out! The best part of this event (other than the music) is that it's FREE! We suggest a donation when you pay for your wine and pizza, but that is totally up to you :) So let's review....this Saturday, September 1st, from 6pm-9pm. Mark it in your calendar!!!

Beyond this weekend there are SO MANY other GREAT shows! Yes, I like typing in all caps because I'm EXCITED! Here is a list of my September shows....
